 Description & History:  V(anilla)cash (XVC) shares the same basic network and cryptographic principles as Bitcoin. The original (legacy) code was written in a backwards compatible but modern approach using C++11.  It was built over a period of several years using Peercoin's  Proof-of-Stake and Bitcoin's Proof-of-Work consensus as a reference  implementation, bringing an alternative codebase to the crypto  ecosystem. 

Given certain critical inefficiencies inherent to the legacy code, an upgrade was undertaken in mid-2022, after a majority vote (95% of community voted "yes") supported such initiative. The updated hybrid PoW/PoS code is BIP-65 compatible (e.g., supports atomic swaps and utilizes HMQ1725 algorithm, which provides enhanced security by approximating a "multi-algo" framework.

Modern XVC is  engineered to have breakthrough performance and long-term stability.
